L.A. Philharmonic Association

From 2007-2010, VYMA has enjoyed the status of ‘youth orchestra partner’ giving our musicians the benefits of regular visits by Los Angeles Philharmonic musicians acting as sectional mentors or giving master classes.

Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA) Network

In November 2007, VYMA joined a network of stakeholders in the Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA), a LA Philharmonic initiative, whose goal is to create El Sistema-inspired music education programs in Los Angeles County. VYMA Board members and faculty have participated of the network’s meetings and on two occasions were invited as speakers.

Emeritus Youth Orchestra Partner

In 2010 VYMA was named Emeritus Youth Orchestra Partner. As such, our musicians have been honored to host “Dudamel Fellows” guest conductors Perry So in February 2010 and Jean-Michael Lavoie in November 2010. Los Angeles Philharmonic has generously provided free Hollywood Bowl tickets to VYMA musicians.
