Anna began taking violin lessons at the age of seven and very soon realized that music was a major part of her life. She played through middle and high school orchestras, participated in local festivals and competitions. She enjoyed new challenges and strived for excellence. Very soon she realized that she loved helping and coaching others as well. In high school she enrolled in the beginning strings class to help coach the beginning students while she was enrolled in the symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, and music theory class.

Anna holds a Master of Arts in Teaching and California Teaching Credential from University of Southern California. She also received a Graduate Certificate in Violin Performance from USC. Anna holds a Bechelor of Arts degree in Violin Performance and Music Education from Chapman University. Anna studied violin with Alice Shoenfeld, Mischa Lefkowitz and others. She greatly values her conducting classes with Professor John Koshak and her chamber ensemble experiences with Bob Becker and Peter Marsh.

Anna Komandyan has been teaching violin privately for fifteen years. She has worked with many music studios and taught to a wide range of age groups. Anna held a position as the orchestra director at Lincoln Middle School in Santa Monica. She taught beginning strings to advanced orchestra classes of up to 70 students. She gained great experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities. She has been teaching private violin lessons and group lessons at Harmony Project for over seven years.  This year she will be starting her second year of teaching at VYMA (Verdugo Young Musician’s Association).
